Enchanting villages and centuries-old vineyards
The excursion
Guided tour of Civita di Bagnoregio, the so-called “Dying City”. It owes this name to its particular position: the two small streams that flow in the valley below, together with the wind and rain, contribute to the continuous erosion of the tuff hill where this beautiful glimpse of tranquility stands.
At the end, transfer towards Castiglione in Teverina: in the heart of an area where viticulture boasts an ancient tradition, there is a prestigious farm that offers a production of DOC wines and extra virgin olive oil. The company with its land is located on one of the splendid hills of the upper Teverina Lazio, at a height ranging from 300 to 450 meters above sea level and with a total extension of 40 ha, including vineyards, olive groves and arable land.
Belonging to a traditionally oil-pressing family, personal oil-making experience and above all the exceptional origin and quality of the olives, allow the production of a finely delicate extra virgin olive oil with an excellent fruitiness.
The same goes for the wines, produced in the new cellar equipped with the most modern technologies, to then be perfected in the historic family cellar, a unique and evocative environment.
The company tour includes:
- visit to the winemaking cellar with a detailed explanation of the various processes and a walk through the vineyards surrounding the company.
-visit to the traditional cold-pressed oil mill with stone millstones and related information on the production method of extra virgin olive oil.
-visit to the historic cellar, entirely dug into the tuff and tour of the cave with the barrique estate inside.
– presentation of the 6 wines produced by the company and tasting (light lunch) based on typical products of the upper Tuscia: bruschetta, crostini with paté, vegetable omelettes, typical cured meats (capocollo-wild boar and truffle sausage-ventresca-crushed salami), typical cheeses combined with grape jams, Tuscia beans with lard and sage, salad, local sheep ricotta with acacia honey (served as dessert).
