Museo del Vino - Muvis

The MUVIS “Museum of Wine and Agri-food Sciences” is the largest museum of its kind in Europe with 2000 m² of exhibition space, it is located in the heart of the village of Castiglione in Teverina which is part of the National Association “Città del Vino”.

The museum is located inside a large cellar spread over 5 floors (1st floor, ground floor and 4 underground floors) which, until 20 years ago, was the vast and complex production site belonging to the Counts Vaselli.

The tour consists of a suggestive “descent” into the hill to discover the wine production of “yesterday”, at the end of which you reach (at a depth of 27 metres) the so-called “Cathedral” where it is possible to admire gigantic barrels with a diameter of three metres.

The Strada del Vino della Teverina winds through a vast territory extending between the Tiber River and Lake Bolsena, where many wineries of Tuscia are located.
